Choosing what asset class to invest in

When you are considering different asset classes to invest in, it is often confusing and quite easy to get lost in the details.

Be clear on why you are investing and what it means to you. Typically most of the attention goes to return on capital, but more important is the return of capital — preserving what you have. Beyond that, you should also be able to find value and create impact.

If it does not have a meaning and purpose for you beyond the financial gains, it is unlikely you will achieve long term success, or that you will still be practising it in the long term.
